Other similar songs and shitty reviews aside, this is my favourite Washing Machine track.

ImbalancingAct: I thought the Pitchfork review was pretty funny, actually - and I liked NYCG&F (especially the title track)! Not everyone has to agree, and at least he was amusing about it. Joel Loved Washing Machine, loved A Thousand Leaves more tho :)

I often cite Washing Machine as my favorite SY album. It's the most solid in my opinion. I also have no clue why it was critically panned. Most music journalists were even worse in '95?? Expecting something "more alternative"?? Hahaha. Fuck 'em. This album's great, including the 20 some minute long noise-jam-with-a-sweet-sweet-melody that closes 'er out. Oh, and the douche who gave New York City Ghosts and Flowers a "0.0" rating on pitchfork can piss off along with the fool who gave a "0.0" rating to the Flaming Lips amazing AND novel album Zaireeka. Pitchfork scum. They're not all bad or anything but those two reviews really got under my skin. The way they justify the ratings is soooooo absurd. Especially the Flaming Lips one. Basically the doucheburst's argument is "Who can afford four CD players to listen to this album at once??" Try having at least 3 friends, numbskull. If I remember correctly he didn't even listen to the album and gave it a "0.0/10.0" anyway.

Ah Washing Machine, great album. I saw them play at the Zenith in Paris when it came out. I bought a Washing machine sticker after the concert and... stuck it on my washing machine. The washing machine is still working and the sticker still adorns it. Great song. It and Diamond Sea sum the album up nicely.
