Sounds Like Sunset's music is a mix of simple songs taken on sort of a wild ride - freely moving in directions led by huge guitars and feedback, and drawing on influences such as BailterSpace, The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and the gloomier side of The Beach Boys in equal measure.

The band formed in Sydney, Australia in 1997 with David Challinor (vocals, guitar), David Hobson (bass) and Rohan Geddes (drums). Andrew Fevre joined the band on keyboards & guitar soon after, and the band quickly gained a reputation around town for the sonic assault of their early live shows - mostly extended feedback-laden jams reminiscent of Spacemen3, Yo La Tengo and Flying Saucer Attack.

More 'structured' songs eventually found their way onto the group's setlists, and various home-made demo cassettes started to circulate around the scene in 1998. By 1999 the band's first official release was the track "before it blows", a split 7" released through the Quietly Suburban label with LA-based noise pop band The Lassie Foundation contributing their track 'promise ring' to the other side.

The band spent much of 1999 and 2000 touring and recording, and the departure of founding member Rohan Geddes midway through 2000 made way for Matt Bonson to join on drums. The band signed a contract with Modular Recordings later that same year, and the band's debut album "Saturdays" appeared in 2001 - a sort of mix-tape of various studio sessions and 4-track noise experimentation that was both lambasted and drooled over by various music writers, making several "Top 5 albums of 2001" lists along the way.

Unfortunately the group's relationship with Modular was short-lived, and after numerous trips to Melbourne & Brisbane Matt Bonson decided to leave the group. David Vigello joined on drums and played a number of shows, with his chopped-up blastbeat rhythms adding a new energy to the band's songs - however this too was short-lived, and after a gig where Vig went missing and a drum machine was brought in at short notice (ending up with Andrew Fevre taking over on drums to salvage what was left of the set), Tobey Doctor eventually stepped in to take over on drums and he has continued through to the present day.

The band released their second album "invisible" in 2005 on the Architecture Label and are currently working on new material for album #3.
