Detroit-based experimental duo South South Million emerged in 2011 as a side project of Zoos of Berlin frontmen Trevor Naud and Daniel I. Clark. Blending a mix of found sounds and samples with live instrumentation and occasional vocals, the duo creates a sort of pop-based sound art that reads as a natural extension of their work with Zoos.

Although there are elements of sound collage, electro-acoustic, ambient, and jazz, Naud and Clark retain the strong melodic sense that has been a hallmark of all their projects. South South Million self-released a six-song EP called Satellite Gallery in September of 2011. They eventually signed with New York-based Triple Down Records, which issued the band's evocative debut LP, Wind Hand Caught in the Door, in 2012. Over the next six years, the duo remained largely devoted to their work with Zoos, releasing albums in 2013 and 2016 before reviving South South Million in 2018 with the all-instrumental Ain't Lines.
