Hi friends, curious to see your response: do you primarily listen to/prefer Neal era or post-Neal Spock's?

Ryo Okumoto is a member of Eric Andre's house band in Season 5 - for the few people in existence who are fans of both... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAYlzNyLQ0k

It's not that much Christian-themed? I mean if you want hardcore Christian-themed, listen to Neal Morse's solo stuff lmao. But really who cares in the end. Music is music. I'm an anti-theist and I still love Neal Morse/Spock's Beard because their music transcend beliefs.

Redacted: latest album growing on me. I truly sincerely deeply wanted to hate it but I just can't. Damn you SB for maintaining your cachet and making me happy again

I've just been getting into this band in the last year. One (of many) things I like about them is the fact that they rarely have long self-indulgent solos. Even though they have long instrumental passages, there is very little soloing. Not that I don't like prog instrumental excesses, but it's refresh to hear a prog band that rarely indulges. Also, I got my first Spock's Beard CD shortly before Leonard Nimoy died. I don't know what that means, exactly.

Was really skeptical of their post-Neal Morse direction, but they stayed every bit as progressive, actually moreso. It's the lack of pop hooks that make them less 'accessible' currently, the keyboard playing and basslines have actually gotten a good deal more intricate with the same direct lyrics. It's a good style, gonna have to look into the new album when it's out...Tides of Time has quite a bit of Yes and Kansas in it!

@dr_bun, I got into them through At the End of The Day and All on a SUnday (the first is awesomely proggy, the second is catchy and very Beatles styled.) Hope that helps, Mister Ryu Okumoto on the Keyboards is awesome ELP as well, if you like them.

Never really understood "Snow". For me it's by far the worst album with Neal. First four albums all 11/10, of course. "V" is 10/10.

hey, for the Kevin Gilbert fans who may come here (Kevin worked with Spock's on both The Light and Beware of Darkness, and "The Great Nothing" is thought of largely about Kevin Gilbert), Kevin's 1st solo record "THUD" could be coming out on VINYL. !Please make a comment (for those who have Facebook) in this Post if you are interested. https://www.facebook.com/kevingilbertofficial/photos/a.240786302798926.1073741842.224649184412638/240785206132369/?type=1

The first three albums and Snow are just amazing prog. I have to say that Flow is pretty much their masterpiece.

Spocks Beard European Tour kicks off next week, I will be at The Garage, London... Love the new album, the addition of Ted Leonard on vox/guitar along with his writing skills was truly a superb move on their part :) See ya there!

New album is good. But SB will never release an album better than Snow. It's genuinely one of the best albums of all time in my opinion.
