Biography

    1 May 1999 (age 25)

Taking a cue from the '90s CD series Die Schlümpfe, where songs from the charts were rearranged as dance cuts with vocals sung by the animated characters of The Smurfs, the SpongeBob Schwammkopf album series features famous tracks with new German lyrics sung by Santiago Ziesmer, the German dubbing voice of SpongeBob, the cartoon character from the TV series SpongeBob SquarePants (SpongeBob Schwammkopf in Germany).

Released in 2011, BOBmusik: Das Gelbe Album featured songs like "Lecker Lecker" (originally Shakira's "Waka Waka") and "Zack Zack" (Kesha's "Tik Tok"). The album was re-released under the title BOBmusik: Das Gelbe Winteralbum at the end of the year, adding two bonus tracks ("Schnee in Bikini Bottom," which used to be "Party Rock Anthem" byLMFAO, and "Frohes Fest," which was originally "Raise Your Glass" by P!nk).

SpongeBob Schwammkopf: Das Blaue Album, which included tracks such as "Au!" ("Stay" by Hurts) and "Ich Find's Trocken Toll" ("I Love Rock 'n' Roll" by Britney Spears), arrived in 2012. Proving you can't keep a good sponge down, SpongeBob Schwammkopf kept the oceanic party going in 2013 with two albums: a new collection of tunes, BOB Star: Das Total Abgedrehte Album, and a collection of favorites from Schwammkopf's career to date, Bob Hits: Das Allerbeste Album.
