slept on this album for far too long, given how much I love Actor, Strange Mercy, and the eponymous album. amazing. I love her lower/deeper register and appreciate the orchestral landscaping influence from her then-recent touring with Sufjan.

This really was proof of concept right out the gate (the concept being St. Vincent's excellence).

A lot of people seem to forget the fact that Mike Garson (as in Aladdin Sane piano solo Mike Garson) is on this album

Why is this so underrated? I thought this was going to be trash since people constantly mark it as her worst album, but it's actually really beautiful, it's personal and shy and I really like it.

I (without knowing) listened to this album for the first ever time on it's 10th birthday

For some reason I thought this would be some boring shit but this turned out to be at least as good as the selftitled album. Glad I gave it a listen.

I haven't been able to get into her other records as of yet, but this is lovely.

first time I've heard this album, being a fan of her other work. I'm liking it a lot so far, there's more of an overt accessibility and - I guess - 'lightness' to it, but there's still a lot of the distinctive St. Vincent-ness that's explored more on later albums. Really love the strings, too. Can't go wrong with well-produced strings.
