I appreciate that Micus' music seems thoughtful, and a few times I have been moved by his music from tuned clay water pots, say, in Wings Over Water. But for years I cannot escape the feeling I'm being taken advantage of/that he's milking it. Much of his music just has this disingenuous feeling of 'meditative noodling'. I'm thinking this effect comes from incorporating *so* many influences that are non-native to his [German, I think] culture as to dilute the authenticity to nothing. Note: I am listening to a piece of his called 'Night Circles', which has nice characteristics to it. But still....
