Biography
Steve Hanft (born Steven P. Hanft, 3 May 1966 in Ventura, California) is an American independent film director and musician.
Hanft has directed over seventy music videos for groups including the Cure, Stone Roses, Delinquent Habits, Primal Scream, and Spoon. He still directs music videos but lately has been focusing on directing films including "Strange Parallel" (1998), "Southlander" (2001, with a cameo by Elliott Smith), and a documentary feature entitled "Return of the Rub-a-Dub Style" (2008.)
Most recently, Hanft has produced and starred in short internet films including the hit Cannes Film Festival Bronze Lion Winner "Guy Catches Glasses With Face". Hanft also acted the lead "Indecisive Customer" in a Lexus TV commercial directed by his friend Ben Kaller.
On May 22, 2008 Steve released a third musical album, a collaboration with April March entitled Magic Monsters.
