This album has no comparison. His others are all great or impressive or interesting at least in their own ways... But this. This freaking album. This takes the breath away, and then takes your soul into places you never knew existed. Seriously though. Perfection.

I like seven swans the most on seven swans. the ending is just breathtaking. he played it as opener in berlin, it was unbelievably great!

@hotterthanjuly: seven swans is humble and calm, perhaps just like sufjan shows hisself as a person, illinois is just as majestic as he could be... he is a genius. I like seven swans as much as illinois eitherway.

its kind of hard to compare it to Illinoise. Most of the music in illinoise is a lot more intricate and complex. As the description above says this is more sparse and based around the banjo and sufjan's voice. But its a very beautiful album and a great listen all the way through.
