on the road from "Admiral Fell Promises" to "Benji" is this album. A sleeper album from SKM that in my opinion, reminds me of the musical journalism-style writing like Lou Reed. each song is a story, an editorial, a description. But it's all beautiful and truthful poetry. This record must've stuck out like a sore thumb upon release, because it sounds nothing like anything that was released around this time.

I'm glad this album exists in this form. Yeah some of the songs seem to be unnecessary, but overall this is an excellent album-diary. Each song is a different city, a different show, different thoughts. It was a very valuable listen.

i remember hearing this for the first time and simply having no idea what problem so many Kozelek fans had with it..

I feel like this album is really underrated. Yeah it's different from Mark's previous work but the songwriting here just feels very candid and transparent, almost like you can read his lyrics as a book. I think it's a great record.

UK Blues is bs, he just had to disregard our rich folk history and focus on hecklers and rioters. Makes for poor songwriting and just proves what a negative guy he is. Such a shame since I thought Admiral was really great.
