It's their ninth studio album. Both Pete Fowler (long-time sleeve designer) and Keiichi Tanaami (artist of the cover for 'Hey Venus!') contributed to the cover art. The Super Furries have stated that the album is based around riffs and grooves which they have been playing for the past few years; includes only one slow song which, in actual fact, "isn't slow at all"; and has a lack of saxophone and lap steel guitar, which have both been banished into the "banned instrument directive of the SFA board", due to Dafydd Ieuan apparently developing a phobia of the latter. For the track 'Inaugural Trams', the band collaborated with Franz Ferdinand's Nick McCarthy, on which he provides spoken word German vocals. On the day of its release, the band broadcast a live show featuring songs from the album, which proved to be a success despite some technical difficulties initially.
