This might just be my favorite Swans (studio) album. In the pantheon of the Swans discography, this album stands as an ephemeral moment in their existence. Equally dipped in the mechanical stomp of their 80’s output, while really beginning to extend the instrumentation and creativity that marked their 90’s - present work. It does this fluidly to create an atmosphere that is both dark and suffocating but inherently melancholic.

Haunting, glorious beauty. Felt like I was in a decrepit, defiled cathedral. Amazing industrial-meshed-gothic noise <3

If that floats your boat, you should check this album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBvoDi7q5OQ - Jex (Thoth) on vocals, and all the lyrics are inspired by The Process Church of the Final Judgment's preaching.

I've always considered this album the same species as The Cure's Disintegration. [2]

"Michael Gira will fucking throw a brick through your family" has to be the best thing I've ever read on this website.
