Biography
There are at least six different acts/bands called The Orphans.
1. The Orphans were a an American punk band. Formed outside Philadelphia in West Chester, PA, in 1995, they disbanded in 2000. There were reunion shows in 2004 and 2008. Band members: Andrew Baxter (drums), Tom Johnsen (guitar), Drew Petersen (bass, voice), Erik Petersen (voice, guitar, mandolin). Erik Petersen also puts out music as Mischief Brew and runs the label, Fistolo Records.
2. The Orphans are a powerful and dark female-fronted indie rock band from New York, NY, United States.
3. The Orphans are a loosely post–punk band formed in Melbourne, Australia. They started in early 2007, featuring Duncan Ross Keith on vocals and keyboards, Edan O’Grady on bass, Thomas James Hammer on guitars and Ryan Coffey on drums.
4. The Orphans are a Brighton, United Kingdom-based glam rock group, described as sounding like "a malnourished boy trapped in an Edwardian nightmare". Consisting of Jonny Orphan (a.k.a. 5. The let's-go-to-San-Francisco ideal of the Summer of Love inspired dozens of record producers to cash in on the trend. This certainly applied to to 'There's No Flowers in My Garden' (1968), a song penned by two Epic Records staffers of the New York City office, Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell. The tune was cut by band from Boston, MA, called The Orphans. Personnel: Wiley Crawford (vocals, keyboard, guitar), Bobby Kocor (bass), Eric Liljequist (guitar) and Paul Colaruso (drums). The group released one more single (1968's 'This Is The Time'), but that was it for The Orphans, who disbanded in 1969, only to resurface in a different line-up in the early 1970 as Orphan, recording for London Records.
6. The Orphans were an obscure 1960s psychedelic garage band, found on the CD complication 'Back From The Grave Vol. 10'.
