Biography
Tabernarios is a hard rock and stoner rock band from Chile. The band is famous for its traditional hard rock appeal, present in the long hair, thick beards, biker aesthetics and heavily distorted music that accompanies lyrics about road trips, women, alcoholism and the devil. The name itself is one of the many tropes present in the band's artistic expression: in Spanish, "taberna" is the word for a "bar" or a "pub", while "tabernario" alludes to a person of poor manners and, hence, spends much of his time drunk in a pub.
The band started in Santiago de Chile when Christian "Pimpón" MacDonald, who played bass guitar in Hielo Negro, and Felipe "Rama" Orellana, who played drums in Devil Presley and Jusolis, set up a rehearsal with vocalist/guitarist Rafael Urrea (native from the city of Punta Arenas) and jammed together for a good while in december, 2001. When Iván Cáceres joined the band in 2002 as a guitarist, Tabernarios started playing in many bars and pubs in the city, always keeping that traditional hard rock essence.
The band released their eponymous debut album in 2005. The second full-length album, Traiciones, saw the light in 2010. LmL, the third one, was released in 2018 and a fourth one was announced in march 2022. They've shared the stage with big names in the Chilean stoner/hard rock scene Yajaira, Devil Presley, Hielo Negro, Icarus Gasoline and Camino de Tierra. Likewise, they have toured all over the country.
