Tamar Kaprelian is an Armenian American musician and singer.
She was discovered when she won the OneRepublic "Apologize" Cover Contest in March 2008.
Kaprelian was born in Scottsdale, Arizona to Armenian parents, but she grew up in Georgia and California.
Her interest in music began when she discovered the works of Billy Joel and Paul McCartney, although she also cites classic Disney film songs as an early influence.
As a reward for winning One Republic's contest, Ryan Tedder helped bring her to the attention of Interscope Records. She was signed shortly afterward.
WAX LTD produced her song "New Day," which went on to be her first single. "New Day" was featured in the fifth season finale of the hit MTV series "The Hills" and the promo for Abcfamily's "Huge". She describes her music as "thought provoking, hopeful, playful, and honest," and expects to release her first album via Interscope during the summer of 2010.
