"In the past I got asked so many times if I would carry on the TD torch or if I would continue with TD when Edgar retires and so on and my answer was always: NO! And I'll keep it that way. Therefore, I won't support (or merge with) any kind of wannabe lineups, not now nor in the future. No tributes, no reunions, no further concerts under the name 'Tangerine Dream'" - Jerome Froese

Yeah.) That, and also I like this one from 2008: "Q: Did you ever consider collaborating with other musicians for your music? A: Well, I would call myself a 'lone wolf artist' which means that I get the best and fastest results when I work alone." (from sonicimmersion.org) ..And his last solo album was in 2012.:) Well, people change obviously, and the times change..

What do you all think of Raum? Personally, I like it - in fact, the more I listen, the more I like it.

I think Force Majeure might be the most accessible Tangerine Dream album, it's heavier, and not just like Phaedra, Rubycon or Stratosphere where you just have the soundscape, I love both.. but it's not for everyone.. I think Tangram and Force Majeure might be the most accessible Tangerine Dream albums, and in my top 5 albums from them

I wish they had more albums in the vein of Cyclone and Force Majeure. Is there any band or solo artist with music in that direction? It's like progressive electronic with rock characteristics. Real drums grooving, electric guitar, bass, and the soaring synths but without going full progressive rock, still maintaining the progressive electronic feel/aesthetic.

Check out Emeralds if you haven't already. The stuff on Spotify is good, but this is probably what you are looking for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0sfvQSn3N4

Considering their numerous great records, soundtracks and their continued high level of progression and creativity over multiple decades. I'd argue that TD have a strong case to be considered the greatest ever band. In my mind and to my ears, they are without any doubt one of the most mind-blowing bands I've ever heard.

To my ears - as well.) But I'm sure people from very different genres can come here and disagree naming their Metallicas, Beatles and KingCrimsons as the greatest band ever. :) But considering the output and longevity TD is definitely something outstanding -- a 'superband' or something.

Aye, it's subjective and a debate that always causes many disagreements, when it comes to the greatest anything. However, I can't think of many other bands, with so many high level and diverse releases over numerous decades, that have stayed as relevant as Tangerine Dream?

To tell the truth, I'm not in the position to talk competently about how 'high level and diverse' their output is. I have a determination to grasp TD discography more or less in its entirety, but so far I'm only on "Le Parc" (1985), and unfortunately I hear rumors that exactly after the mid-80s their output becomes less and less relevant and fresh.

Trying to determine "the greatest band ever" is a very common thinking error based only on one's subjective feeling. First, even if we tried to establish some set of rules, most of our suggestions and conclusions would be bound to our knowledge, experience, and sensitivity. Secondly, being objective in terms of music is very difficult and can be unjust in some cases because music is highly subjective in its nature. But if we speak of artists' accomplishments, staying relevant over the years, and most of all, being influential to other musicians and genres, then I'd say, from the examples above, The Beatles and King Crimson are greater bands because they achieved more than Tangerine Dream. But if we speak of our personal, subjective feelings, then for me Dead Can Dance are the best in the history of "popular music". Maybe they weren't as influential as other bands mentioned in my shout but hell, their music is absolutely incredible and both Lisa and Brendan's voices are amazing.

i'd recommend Force Majeure. is the only one I've actually listened more than once and actually know the songs, so there's my bias, but I think it really is a good album. listen to cloudburst flight.

Quantum Gate (and companion piece Quantum Key) is lowkey my favorite thing TD ever did. The Dream Mixes series (which brings elements of EDM / DnB into TD's sound) is pure fucking good shit too.

I can highly recommend the "new" Tangerine Dream. Outstanding musicians who knows exactly what Tangerine Dream is all about! For doubters: Listen to "The Sessions" albums Vol I - V. 5 albums with improvisation music. (just the way TD played it in 70s). Great stuff! ps, I was also a doubter, wondered if it was right to carry on without Edgar, TD is dead, are they just milking us for money etc. etc. Man I was wrong!

Еще "Rockcoon" и "Views From The Red Train", звучащие частично как современный Synthwave, только лучше.

No Froese, no Tangerine Dream. The current line-up is nothing but a tribute act cashing in on the band's name.

yeah! pure marketing!! comic line up of forties with Thorsten Quaeschning(from 2005), Ulrich Schnauss(from 2014) and Hoshiko Yamane(from 2011)..I would like to see in the face a person who pays 50 euros to see a concert of these characters ;)

We both know they are likely to sell more overpriced tickets and attract the attention from a bigger crowd under the renowned Tangerine Dream banner. At this point in their careers I doubt it has been a decision taken due to pressures by the record label only.
