Biography

Taylor Brown grew up writing tunes in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Later he would move to Knoxville, TN, and begin performing locally with his former band, Brown Hall Symphony. After winning city-wide Battle of the Bands contests and playing the local scene, Brown Hall Symphony eventually decided to go their own ways. Two years passed while Taylor sat on the band’s old songs.

Finally, after a few heartbreaks, hard changes, and a touch of trying to figure himself out, he found inspiration to write again. Taylor produced a rough demo, and returned to playing the Knoxville scene. He was eventually invited to play the Dogwood Arts Festival in Knoxville, and later played such shows as the Blue Plate Special on WDVX, Preservation Pub, and so on…
Sweat flew and melodies soared. It has been a good time.

Taylor carries a certain grit and guilt in his song writing. Audiences will enjoy folk/Americana acoustic and piano driven shows with songs reminiscent of Ryan Adams and Damien Rice. Crowds have not been disappointed by his high energy performance, his intimate song writing, and creative use of live looping. There is an intensity contagious to everyone present. For several years, Taylor was often backed by friends and fellow musicians, Bill Wolf (banjo, accordion, backing vox, and other various instruments) and Kenny Gooch (additional guitars, mandolin, backing vox, and electric).

More recently, Taylor is playing with a new "&Co," featuring Bill Wolf on keys/banjo/accordion/bvg, Chris Dorsten on electric guitar, Kevin Hyfantis on bass, and Terry Mahnken on drums. After winning the first round of The Square Room's "Sound Off" competition, the group continues to press forward in writing and playing. Expect much more from Taylor Brown.
