Not sure how much of his notoriety is because of the tracks of his in Heat, but what an incredible way to hear someone’s style for the first time. It plays at the tragic elements to Robert De Niro’s character so perfectly set upon the California nights we hear Terje’s distinctive sound pierce through, representing the thawing warmth to such a cold heart. The choices in the music of Heat in particular show why Michael Mann is such a genius at putting together a cinematic package your mind and your soul carry with you long after it’s over (if you’re like me and love movies anyway).

I watched heat with my father a few times when I was quite young. there was always a very specific ambience that drew me to the atmosphere that Mann formed in that movie (a side note, Dog Day Afternoon gives me a similar feeling). One that is so perfectly emulated by Terje and even in his other works. I got into ECM jazz a year ago and Terje was an immediate staple of that label for me. Having heard his music unknowingly so far in the past something had made a connection in my brain that will likely stay with me for the rest of time. eternal music, eternal cinema

The movie is also a tremendous crash course on Eno if you’re new to his recorded work as I was when I saw it in 2002, I’d known of him because of his work with U2 but hadn’t paid much attention to what he did until I saw his name several times in the end credits.

I'm looking for similar guitar artist, I'm not much into Jazz. It has to be guitar. I love his Mystery Man and Last Nite :)

Very original Another Ecm artist that is spellbinding...intriguing sound...especially like the use of melletron on first album . Can't think of that instrument being used in Jazz anywhere else..maybe mid seventies Herbie Hancock.

The Bleak House concert at Molde International Jazz Festival was utter crap. When Rypdal can't even play his own songs correctly (he sounded like a nervous student on recital), and the two drummers can't keep the same time, they shouldn't have bothered playing at all.
