Terrain-Story Land has no relation to the Terrain Jazz group. Two different bands, distinctly different sounds
Terrain started as a recording project. It was an attempt by Christopher Strauch and Mark Tiborsky to explore the limits of the home studio. The early work is based on improvisations that were recorded (usually on two acoustic guitars) and embellished with overdubs. Bob Rinkes was present in the early goings lending his elegant bass lines to our development. Our first demo was a spoken word/instrumental production on which our good friend Ben Gulyas recited his poetry. Lorne Franklin joined our ensemble on percussion and we continued writing new songs and recording some of our back catalog. Steve Niple joined us on drums in 2009 and the project moved from the recording studio to the stage. The missing link, Grant Marquit, joined the band on keys in the Winter of 2011. Terrain released Story Land, its debut CD, in Springtime 2011.
