Rather agree on mare vitalis imho. Saying so, I also really have a thing for the ring wars. Anyways, they're such a great band with no weak album, I'd say. Don't mind everybody having their own favourites ;) Let's just agree "Forever longing the golden sunsets" is THE song ;)

i see, i'm currently listening to it a second time and it's getting better. and you're right, i do believe the quality will make up for it. i would say this doesn't really sound like any of their previous records aside from the trademark sound that they have, y'know. i kind of get the feeling that we are getting another concept album a la two conversations. obviously not the same concept but it seems like it's about an album where people go out on a journey and face hurdles together but in the end they achieve what they were set out to do in the first place. at least, that is the vibe i'm getting by looking at the titles off of the tracklist. luckily we only have to wait only a month, most bands announce a new album like 2 or 3 months prior to its release which can be frustrating. but then again if you come out after 6 years i assume you make up by announcing the new album a month before its release hehe.

(Sorry, meant < 11 new tracks, in that last shout.) I have a friend who played the new track relentlessly yesterday – something I try to avoid with singles – and he’s smitten. It sounds like the new material will carefully sink its hooks in or gradually reveal true replay value, as is the way of most of Appleseed’s music. I really can’t wait. I would be on board with another concept album, and I do agree with you when you say that quick turnaround is a huge deal. It would be truly sadistic to make us wait 5-7 months after being off the grid for 6 years.

Interested in this because view because me and my friends all hated Nathan's drumming... He was talanted no doubt but I much prefer the new drummer and cobra's work. Seeing them on the latest tour the new drummer is absolutely crushing it and exciting to watch

remembering randomly discovering Two Conversations in uni... fell in love with that, and ended up leading me to Low Level Owl albums. Those two contain some of their best songs. "Signal" is my favourite song by these guys.. something i can't really explain about it really gets me.

If anyone would be so kind as to shout at me what you think their very best albums are I'd appreciate it. The only one I've had any experience with is The End of the Ring Wars and I find it hard to sit through for its entirety; I love their raw sound and dynamics but the tracks themselves just seem to blend together and sometimes ramble on for longer than need be, just my opinion.

I haven't heard two conversations in years. I was 17 when i bought it back in 2003. Being 28 now it still sounds as beautiful and fresh as back then, maybe it's just the nostalgia but even though my music taste has changed and grew into more varied styles i'll still put this up there with my life favourites, low level owls are still top but this album reminds me of so many road trips and moments in college.

p5_ar: Expect 3-5 songs off Illumination Ritual and then the rest should be a pretty good mix.

@Colderskin I love these guys, but creating "post-rock"? Hahahahaha, not even close.
