Brit and Matt met in 2008 in Chester at the City Bar, where Matt was playing a gig with his band 'the LP'.
The couple soon became inseparable, spending many evenings talking about art and writing music in Matt's flat above City Bar. The Duo started playing small gigs to friends under the name 'Black Vox'.
A turbulent few years with his old band caused the LP to split in 2010 and from that moment Brit and Matt were finally given an opportunity to focus on their own material.
They set about recording tracks with producer Gary Lloyd and their mentor Martin Ellis and THE AUGUST SEPTEMBER was born.
The name is a reference to 'August September' a film by L M Kit Carson. Staring Edie Sedgwick, (muse to cult bohemian artist Andy Warhol) the film depicts a rock 'n' roll suicide circa 1952.
The band also directed, filmed and edited a video to their track 'I Cherish The Way You Left Me'.
This lead to playing shows in London, New York, Manchester, Belfast, and Liverpool all within 5 months.
Recently The August September have been played on Dave Monks BBC Introducing show on BBC Radio Merseyside and have recorded a live session.
The band are currently working on tracks for their debut album and have recently had a track released on the Cavern Records 2011 compilation.
