I really liked the title-track when they first released that as a single, then I saw the artwork and got even more stoked (green is my fave color), but upon hearing the full album I was just left empty. It didn't do anything for me. Maybe three tracks that had some little thing standing out about them. Seems it grew over time for many people but I eventually forgot about it altogether. Have to revisit this one as soon as I get my next death metal binge.

This one's a grower for me. Didn't care for it too much upon release, but I love it now.

It seems I am in the minority here, but not only did I not like this album much as a followup to the massive Nightbringers, the album is not growing on me with each listen. It disappoints me much in the same way Abysmal did, with maybe 3 great songs. In my opinion, the song writing sounds very disjointed to me, lacking cohesion, and the drummer seems lost for ideas of what to do with some of the riffs and timing transitions. TBDM definitely display some proficient chops on this album, but at the expense of hooks, melodies, and overall structure. I really dislike songs like Sunless Empire (except for its' blistering phenomenal solo), Leather Apron. How Very Dead, We're Worm, and Verminous are the only songs that really grip me with a consistent fast driving tempo. The highlight for me is definitely the killer bass tone being forward in the mix.

Didn't like it on first listen but it grows on you after subsequent listens and i'm enjoying it a lot now. Nowhere near as good as Nightbringers but still a good album overall. My favourite tracks at the moment are probably How Very Dead and Child of Night.

Its decent, honestly better than I was expecting based on the two singles. Best song is Sunless Empire, Dawn of Rats is good too but nothing like their old closer songs. I would only put this album over Abysmal and their first two albums if I were to rank them. Maybe it'll grow on me over time but I've listen to it through 4 or 5 times by now and it's just decent. I absolutely love the new mix though, with the bass so high

Been 10 days since I got it, and I've listened to it enough now that I think I have a better feel for it. Overall I'd compare both the tone and quality to Everblack. It's definitely grown on me after subsequent listens. I think the problem a lot of people are having is that there aren't many standout songs; the highs are lower, but the lows are also higher (the overall quality, not talking about high/low vocals). All of the songs are solid, but the only 2 that are going on my playlists are Sunless Empire and Dawn of Rats. I like it. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Still wouldn't say it's one of their best, probably right in the middle of their discography next to Everblack if I were to rank them. Still absolutely love the mix, I hope they keep the bass this high going forward. I'll give it a 8.5 out of 10, but in comparison I'd give all 3 of Ritual, Nocturnal, and Nightbringers full on 10/10

Disappointment of the year. A lack of "dancing" riffs that "Nightbringers" had...

Main riffs in "Matriarch", "Kings of the Nightworld" and "Threat Level №3", for example.
