Black Eyed Snakes is blues rock band from Duluth, Minnesota featuring Alan Sparhawk (guitarist and vocalist of Low). Started circa 2000, the band has released three albums to date: 2001's "It's The Black Eyed Snakes", 2003's "Rise Up!" and 2018's "Seven Horses". The band's current lineup consists of: "Big House" Bob Olson (Guitar), "Smokin" Brad Nelson (Drums), Bryan "Lefty" Johnson (Percussion), "Chicken Bone George" Alan Sparhawk (Guitar and Vocals). Alan's brother Justin "The Doctor" Sparhawk performed percussion with them in the early 2000's.
Sparhawks described the band's attitude towards the blues: "We actually hate most blues. We were trying to destroy it. We're interested in putting the blues back into a gut level – instead of talent, we go with feeling more."
