I really love the part about "The meteorological man with the whirl-wind girl." To me, it implies an entire relationship. On one hand you have the straight-edged, boring meteorological man. On the other you have the crazy, unpredictable, free-spirited whirlwind girl. And yet, the two roles imply a deep understanding of one another and almost a codependency. The couldn't be more different, but they completely understand and love one another. Makes me wish I had a whirlwind girl of my own!

"The 'And I see' chorus became the keystone of the musical structure early on and we improvised a bit around it in London. Paul found that sample on an old folk guitar instructional record, and cut it from two instances of the same lyric over two different chords."

tallest man on earth? You guys really need to check your boners at the door. If The Books did sample this guy I would be incredibly shocked. Dylan is a much more plausible guess.
