i've heard this a thousand times, I never once payed attention to the lyrics - i just assumed it was about having polio and training for a marathon or something.

i think its a little ridiculous that people say they soldout, they were always more than a punk band [2]

This is probably the top 5 pop songs of 1979 AND 1980 (depending on what country you live in). What an infectious little tune.

Not really Rodney - From Wiki- The final track, "Train in Vain", was originally not included in the track list printed on the album's back cover.[37] The song was initially going to be given away for free through a promotion with NME, but when the deal fell through it was added to the album at the last minute.

When it came to marketing "London Calling," The Clash played a strange game of hide and seek. "Stand By Me," this extremely radio friendly R&B jam, was the first cut to make the American airwaves, but the song wasn't listed on the jacket or the vinyl label. It's a hidden track that appears at the very end. In other words, they tried to hook people with the least Clash-like song...and then hid it from view. They wanted listeners -- but maybe they didn't want listeners who thought this was a great song. Or maybe they did, because it is a great song, as are all the songs on the album. It's an album of working class rage that ends on a note of rock and roll love and devotion.
