Biography

The Cowards began way back in 2004 - the brainchild of then housemates Ben, Rich and Glen. Whilst slumming it in Dalston, watching boxing documentaries and playing Mario Kart 64, an idea came to the three of them that would change their course forever. First came the name. Then song titles. Some sporadic lyrics. Next - a well rehearsed hyperbolic spiel. A year later the logo and the band's colours were debuted at The Archers on Brick Lane and renewed belief spread.

Cue 2006. February - Glen starts writing the first of his songs. August - at The Archers a week before Reading Festival, Andrew Morton declares "I'm in your ****ing band." At Reading Festival he pulls out a guitar, shows the others the talent they had been lacking and makes the cut. September sees Gates on board. October sees the first of the Cowards Weekends. Morton tells everyone what to do and "Chicks. Axe." is created, their warm-up jamming track to this day.

Then Alchemy is performed as "I've Got To Go To Wisconsin" becomes the band's first real song. November sees Rich hanging out a window writing "The Hoff Abides" in an hour, Ben joins the fray with the drinking song that is "The Archers" and the Alchemy/Glen partnership create "Marry You For A Green Card" and follow it up with "(You Make Me Feel) FIFTEEN Again". The Cowards' future Xmas Number One is laid down. 2007 beckons.

The Cowards took it to the rehearsal rooms in 2007, electrifying their sound. "Summer Daze", "Scars (Set To Lose You)", "You Can Have My Children Cos You Got Good Genes", "First Kiss (Baby Baby)", "The Girl I Never Knew" and "She's Drunk. She's Overweight. She's Mine." all saw the light of day.

The Cowards now tour the streets of London with their brand of Performance Indie Pop/Karaoke Stadium Rock putting entertainment at the top of their agenda.
