Guitarist Eddie Phillips was using a violin bow on songs like "Painter Man" and "Making Time" Brilliant stuff, ahead of it's time. It was 1966, who else was doing that? I'll tell you who - no one! Light years before Jimmy Page ever thought of it, yet Page gets all the credit. Bullshit! But The Zepp Guys did "borrow" a lot, didn't they? That's a story for another day. In fact The Mark Four / The Creation were pioneers of innovative creativity all the way back to 1964 with their use of guitar feedback / reverb etc. Criminally underrated. Shame they didn't last longer and get more famous in my opinion.

I watched Rushmore just right after I say this (was too lazy to do research), I'm a Wes Anderson fan since.

Also, both main versions of the band were equally great, as the original group had Making Time and all those, whereas the Garner fronted version instantly flew out with If I Stay Too Long, which are their best two songs. Even the third incarnation did brilliant work with stuff like For All That I Am. Stunning from beginning to end and the only shame was how fleeting it all was.

These guys didn't last long enough to compare to the Who. If anything, their two early singles could match up to the Who's early singles, but the Creation lost their edge once Kenny Pickett left the band.

I don't think they should be compared. They've each got their own merits. And who in the HELL tagged these guys as "power pop?" People need to get their genres right. Badfinger is power pop. The Creation are not.

Yeah, the Creation are pretty much a lesser known version of the Who. They're good, don't get me wrong, but no way do they compare.
