Biography

There are at least 5 bands called the Dreamers.

1. The Dreamers is John Zorn's Jazz Sextet, which consists of :
Cyro Baptista: Percussion
Joey Baron: Drums
Trevor Dunn: Bass
Marc Ribot: Guitar
Jamie Saft: Keyboards
Kenny Wollesen: Vibraphone

The music draws exotica, surf, world music, latin jazz, rock, film music and more into a seductive new musical world.

2. The Dreamers were one of the relatively few all-female doo wop groups in the mid-'50s, recording several singles on which they backed noted R&B singer Richard Berry. They did just one single under their own name, "Do Not Forget"/"Since You've Been Gone," which came out on Flip in 1957. They also recorded a 1954 single billed as the Dreamers Featuring Richard Berry, and also did a couple of singles for Class as the Rollettes. They were more pop-influenced than most doo wop groups of the time, but sang effectively on their now-obscure singles with Berry. Their name was changed to the Blossoms when they were signed to Capitol Records in 1957. The Blossoms recorded singles for several labels, but are most known as one of the most prominent session backup-vocal groups of the early '60s. Darlene Love, the most famous member of the Blossoms, actually did not join the group until 1963, and was not a member of the Dreamers. The Dreamers' Flip single, as well as a couple of the Rollettes' tracks and some odds and ends related to Berry and the Dreamers' '50s careers, were packaged on the Dreamers' They Sing Like Angels compilation for Ace in 2001.

3. The Dreamers are an Anglo/Swedish duo featuring Sarah Nyberg Pergament and Kevin Wright. Sarah has previously recorded as Action Biker and Kevin as Always and Mr. Wright. Meeting at a Swedish music festival in 2004 the pair began by writing a song "Petit Nuage" in late 2005. Encouraged by this an album began taking shape being recorded mostly in London with Sarah's vocals being sent from Stockholm and Helsinki. The record is now finished and titled "Day for Night". Top Swedish label Friendly Noise released it on October 2007. The band made their live debut at the Luminaire in London and more shows followed in Scandanavia. The Dreamers influences combine many disparate elements including jazz pop and soundtrack music. Although the music is often melancholic the Dreamers hope to make (to paraphrase Michel Legrand speaking of Tom Jobim) "the sad music that makes the world a better place."

4.
The Dreamers are a political hardcore punk/crust punk band based out of Gary, Indiana. They play fast and short songs. They were originally a grind/crust band, but decided to calm a bit down for their recent split with Dun Kugen. Their only other releases are a 7" S/T EP and an extremely rare split with Fireflies. The band doesn't tour, preferring to stay in their general area, and promote their shows as little as possible. They don't like large shows, and are extremely wild (and dangerous) on stage.

They list their influences as Crass, The UberTONES, GG Allin, and The Damned.

5.
The Dreamers are another project of OC ReMix members, including 7 leaders and The Dreamers Chrous with 22 members. They were part of the remix album called NiGHTS: Lucid Dreaming.
