If you think this doesn't sound like The Who, that's because it isn't. Though sometimes attributed to The High Numbers, the name under which The Who recorded "I'm The Face", "Heart of Stone" is a September 1965 release by The Hi-Numbers, a band from Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The song was written by Ted White, not a member of the band, who approached them with it after a gig at the Two I's Club Carnaby Street.
