The Megaphonic Thrift is a Norwegian indie-supergroup of sorts consisting of Richard Myklebust of Stereo21 and Young Dreams, Linn Frøkedal and Njål Clementsen of Low Frequency In Stereo and Fredrik Vogsborg of Casiokids and Young Dreams. They make catchy melodies and then drench them guitarnoise, best described as noisepop with shoegaze elements. Their premier references are acts like Sonic Youth, Built To Spill,
Dinosaur Jr, Guided By Voices and My Bloody Valentine.

They broke onto the international scene with their debut EP “A Thousand Years Of Construction” early in 2010. They toured relentlessly both in Europe and North America throughout the year, together with A Place To Bury Strangers and The Depreciation Guild, among others. Hailed as a sensational live act, they won over crowds at EuroSonic, Popkomm, The Great Escape, Berlin Festival, ILMC, Reeperbahn and Øya festivals among others. As RCRDLBL put it: “I stood near the front with a huge smile, the wash of music making me feel like my face was being blown back. It was definitely the loudest and one of the most exciting things I'd seen".

2011 has seen the release of their debut album “Decay Decoy” on legendary ClubAC30 to rave reviews. Their profile has been upped as Band Of Horses and Dinosaur Jr have handpicked them for support shows, and Jay-Z featured them in his magazine “Life and Times”. Whilst touring Europe and North America they˙ve written their second album, which the finishing touches are currently being put to. It's expected to be released in the first quarter of 2012
