Pretty much every song on Heroes is so much better live than on album. I'd written off that album until I heard the live versions on RWB and they finally clicked.

How I wish this were true. Every time I say The Midnight to people into the metal genres, the response is almost always "Oh yeah, I love Midnight's work. Satanic Royalty is...."

Like 1/3 of Monster is great. Heroes is actually pretty good, but it has to grow on you. Both pale in comparison to what came before, excluding the Horror Show EP, which came after Monster and is outstanding!

I love Heroes. For me way better then Monsters which came out right after I was in peak Midnight hype. Most songs are amazing to me. Can't wait to see what they do next.

I like Heroes more than Monsters too. Heroes tails off a bit towards the end with a few too many slow and unmemorable tracks, and is maybe a bit less experimental overall. The singles are very anthemic and great to sing along to in the car, which I think Monsters was lacking.

Only Picture and the last track are weak for me. Maybe Avalanche. Glad to hear another fans opinion !

как с языка снял, но Gunship всё же лучше в этом плане будут, плюс не в такую лютую попсень ударились как этот паренёк

I've loved every other album but Heroes really did not live up to the hype. The singles were fine, some better than others, but after listening a few times, I can't remember any other song off the album and feel 0 desire to listen again. A far cry from the Horror Show EP and Endless Summer.

Heroes definitely feels like their best in the last 5-ish years. Like they've finally managed to consolidate their desire for these sort of more conceptual albums with a selection of songs that are actually catchy and substantial again. Way less less duds/filler than Kids or Monsters.

yeah not crazy about the new album. Too many harmonized choruses that sound like they belong on a cell phone commercial. There's a few good tracks, but if what the guy said below me is correct then yeah there's some songs that sound like folk songs. agreed it's their weakest album.

idk man i wish they would just cut it down to 45 mins. 1 hour is too long imo. Some filler here and there like track #6, 7 and 8. Always this bittersweet taste, like there's something missing. So far the only music i fully like without filler is found on days of thunder and nocturnal. Even on monsters if u listen to the album as whole it makes sense even on its weak spots. As it blends together on a journey. I also get a weird feeling off this new album like they sound less sincere on this one to me. I hardly can finish listening to this one or endless summer.. Too long albums with too much filler imo. I highly tend to judge an artist by how much filler material they release on their albums. I prefer less quantity and more quality

"Heroes" are probably the closest to classic The Midnight since "Nocturnal", and I love it! It is still very refreshing, as there are lots of new sounds and experimenting, but this time in a good way. S/T song is especially interesting with its guitar vibe, reminds me of some 80s song which I can't remember name of.

Помню, когда их начал слушать в 2016м, тут даже и 40 тысяч прослушиваний не было, сейчас почти 9 мл)

One of the few bands for me that's had such a consistent and fantastic output of records, especially with synthwave/retrowave. Their production and musical creativity really shines through especially from Endless Summer and onward through their discography. While I still adore Days of Thunder, it felt like they were still trying to find their footing. There's also something about driving around at night with their stuff in the background that's pretty magical. Looking forward to their future projects.

Идеальный саундтрек к летним прогулкам в одиночестве по ночному городу... И при этом просто достаточно закрыть глаза, чтобы улететь.

Horror Show sounds to me like some early stuff from IAMX. Especially "GIYS" track...but still pretty nice.

I've played so many hours of CS:GO, back in 2015, when I was a college student and had almost no responsibilities besides attending classes. Then I stumbled upon this streamer, he had awesome skills and he was dominating the game and guess what? He had no arms. This guy was playing The Midnight in the background and it was such a jaw dropping experience to witness both. I will never ever forget how I discovered this band and how it will remain special to me.

I think they got comfortable, you look at Days of Thunder, Endless Summer, and Nocturnal, they felt predictable. I'm not saying any of those are bad, they're still my favorites. Kids and Monsters feels like experimental branching out. Pushing themselves outside their comfort zones when it comes to production. Lyrical content is still exploring the nostalgic feeling one would expect in the retro/synthwave experience. I for one really appreciate that they brought the sax back. It still hits just right in Deep Blue and Dance with Somebody. I think they're trying to head for a more relaxed/ambient vibe and they're running the gamut for that. It hasn't hit any home runs for them yet, but I am glad they're exploring and evolving. Though I don't feel like it brings that same signature Midnight feeling you get with Endless Summer and Nocturnal. I do hope they find the right balance between what they're going for and their Days of Thunder to Nocturnal times. I will eagerly await the next album.

Mine too ... probably going to be close to the top this year too, especially with Horror Show getting a proper release. I didn't listen to those tracks enough last year,

Honestly, "Horror Show" is already much more convincing than both Kids and Monsters. It takes totally different route and I feel it as much more straightforward experimentation - but with good effect. It blends greatly some weird minimalism and cuts with fast, pumping parts ("Neon Meduza" <3), and "Good In Red" could be classic disco/new wave hit straight from 80s.

I have same feelings bro. In case of Neon Medusa I definitely most like the energy of the lead guitar, imo Royce Whittaker will be a great complement to the team if they bring him on live shows. Last year I've been in Prague, and female guitarist, in my opinion, is the weakest part of band.. Hope that Horror will bring a lot of freshness!
