the thing about having seen your first mountain goats concert is that now you want to do it a billion more times. also, thanks tmg fans for being cool about my wheelchair—first concert i've been able to have it on the floor without an issue

this band has been thoroughly rotting my brain since 2018, and i am forever grateful. i wouldn’t want to be anyone else’s top listener (not to flex or anything but). 🫡 to everyone reading this- go listen to palmcorder yajna. RIGHT NOW!!! do it.

a band has never infected me before like the mountain goats. they have such a great catalog that I haven't even come close to experiencing it all and the stuff I already like by them has not grown in the slightest. and they're still putting out music!!!

The flavor text John Darnielle wrote for his Magic cards might be the best thing he's ever written.

This is the most excited I've been for a tMG album in years. Clean Slate is fantastic. It's the best new single release they've had since Chavo Guerrero or Cry for Judas. If the whole album is anywhere near as good as those two albums we're in for a treat.

The live show really sold me on _Bleed Out_. I also really enjoy the lyrical content of most of the tracks on that album. And many of the songs get stuck in my head.

Only song I've ever seen people mosh to at a MG's concert was "Wage Wars" with John even saying "You've got the right idea" to those that were moshing. Does moshing mean punk? No. Energy and punk are often hand-in-hand so people can sometimes conflate the two, but Bleed Out's "bangers" are definitely punk through a Mountain Goats prism to me.

their discography is so large and yet each track I hear is amazing and unique and the lyrics are always so beautiful. and they just keep getting better. When I heard No Children for the first time I knew I was going to fall in love with this band but I had no idea just how deep that love would be. I'm so grateful they visit VA so often I can't wait to see them again. the atmosphere in the last concert I went to was so comforting.

I'm already liking Dark In Here more than Getting into Knives. GIK was a long album and I think suffered from a lot of different sounds and poor flow IMO. Dark in Here feels like a more thought out album.

Honestly never thought we'd get another solo boombox album. Thanks John. Make at least one more before you retire.
