WS9167 you ought to be ashamed of yourself for even enjoying Boxer or TWFM, you're just encouraging The National to make music lesser than Alligator, Sad Songs, and Cherry Tree.

I just personally think it is one of their weaker albums. I think it might be maybe one of the most accessible albums they have, but that was never a problem with them anyway. It just seems to lack the sense of pain in Matt's singing that you get more in something like Sad Songs for Dirty lovers, for instance.

I find Sad Songs to be their weakest album, it's just the one I can't get into as much as the others

I guess that just shows you how good The National really is. Each album is someone's favorite and least favorite.

I love the energy on this album! The newer stuff sounds pretty uninspired and sluggish, but they obviously brought their A-game here.

"Boxer" and "High Violet" always get all the credit... but "Alligator' is their best album. (2)
