If you were in N.O.'s and at least 17 yrs old + you missed out. The dates are wrong as they broke up before 1980 but did play during the holidays once a year until 84. Most of the original crowd sadly died young of various things. And I mean those of us who didn't miss a show and they played 4 X's a week. The Normals weren't the only punk band but were the best by far. Even though they were only around a few years they are responsible for so many other bands formed by their audience. Too numerous to mention but I will mention a few. The Ratfinks,Wayward Youth,The Cold(Bubble Gum) and RZA. Their record was awful and sounded nothing like them. Around the same time ALL their equipment was stolen outside CBGB's. The crowd could not have been more diverse( Tulane students to prostitutes) We all had fun. Back then most people never saw punk rockers. So walking to Jed's alone was no problem. The ones who would normally mug and rape you were too busy laughing. Was hard not to laugh.

The Normals (the non-punk CCM band) is an amazing band. Too bad not around anymore.

I'll see if I can dig up a description for the short-lived punk band. They're from my neck of the woods, but they were disbanded by the time I got old enough to go to shows, so I don't have any personal memories of them. They were fairly popular (on a local level).

I am totally irritated that my Normals tracks lead here! The Normals I am playing are an late 70's punk band from New Orleans. Reco'nize.
