Biography
Drawing on a range of folk, jazz and world musics, the Pindrop Band are a group of musicans who love acoustic music and like to perform without the aid of huge amplification systems. The emphasis in on delicate arrangements and harmonies and purity of sound. Much of their material is self-penned (with the odd quirky cover), and features a vast array of instruments including guitars, ukulele, banjo, mandolin, harp, fiddle, accordion, charango, whistles, harmonium, autoharp, double bass and percussion. Primary singing duties rotate between Piers Partridge, Amy Schroeter, and Phoebe Partridge (Phoebe has since left the band, but features on their recorded output, including on the latest album, Sloe Gin).
Band members have also been known on occasion to bring out their selection of home-made tin instruments - tin guitar, tin bass, tin harp, "tinkelele", and "violtin" - made from olive oil and biscuit tins! These can be heard, for example, on Dans-Y-Derrin.
The band are based in Bristol, UK, and often perform locally.
