Original version is way better, really. This is Sting full of himself and sounding adult-contemporary, which is what he aimed for later in his career. Not a bad track, but definitely not as good as the first version w/energy and power. This one had nothing to do with the original spirit of The Police, besides the band had already split right after Synchronicity's release in 1983.

I don't know what everyone's been smoking, this is by far the better version of this song. The original version makes my ears bleed.

I always liked this one better than the original. It's much more scenic and haunting. Sacrilege, I know.

this version was created by Copeland and Sting in 1986,amid some seriously in studio fist fights, for their "The Singles" - the release of which effectively marked the end of The Police as a band. This version is no better or worse than the original, but the history behind it as the LAST song Copeland and Sting were about to put together in the 80s. It is an interesting remix because (1) they fought over every measure and (2) it was the nail in the coffin of Copeland/Sting collaboration.

Not as good as the original, of course! The original was ground-breaking for Pop/Rock/Punk music of its day. And who could forget that video -- one of the first videos in heavy, heavy rotation on what was THEN "MUSIC TV" (now simply known as MTV .. that irrelevant, disgusting peddler of soft-core porn for the kiddies)?! Still .. THIS version is fun on occasion.

Although the original version has stood the test of time I do love this version.
