Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States

The Rationales are known for their layered, lush, memorable songs, their hooks and harmonies, and their exciting live shows.

Earning rave reviews, both critics and fans agree that although The Rationales sound at different times brings to mind Power-Pop, Alternative, Indie Rock, Americana, and Brit-pop, The band takes all of these influences, and adds them to their catchy, solid songwriting to create a sound that is as exciting as it is all their own.

After having their debut 2008 EP THE GOING AND THE GONE called “one of the finer local CDs of the year” by the Boston Globe, The Rationales ran a successful fan-funding campaign, releasing the full length THE DISTANCE IN BETWEEN in 2011 to high praise, both locally and internationally.

The band kicked off 2012 with the release of a new single, RADIO in March and an appearance as semi-finalists in Boston's esteemed Rock n Roll Rumble in April.

2013 saw the band move out to a more regional focus while playing a series of big shows at home with appearances at notable venues such as the Middle Esat downstairs, Brighton Music Hall, T.T. The Bears and The Sinclair. They are currently preparing a new EP for release in December 2013.

The Band’s Lineup is:
David Mirabella: Vocals, Guitar
Mike Mirabella: Drums, Vocals
Matt Goldfield: Keyboards, Vocals
Sean Black: Bass, Vocals, Vocals
Chad Raleigh: Guitar, Vocals

- The Noise, Live Review, Summer, 2013

"Although I was primarily at Brighton Music Hall to see another band, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I wound up loving the Rationales. Blending the best pop sensibilities with incredibly catchy songs and rocking riffs, the Rationales wowed the audience"
- Dig Boston, Live Review April 2013

Finely wrought, lushly layered pop that sounds effortless in its execution… a power pop flair fringed with alt-country detail."
-The Boston Globe

One of the best songwriting outfits in New England music today. This new effort, from start to finish is one that belongs in your record collection.
- Ryan's Smashing Life

These guys know their way around a power pop hook, serving ‘em up by the barrel with choruses that stick in your head for days on end.
- Twangville.com

A heady mixture of West Coast harmonies and jangly guitars that steers to the right side of edgy to keep the songs interesting and even.
- Alan Harrison, Maverick Magazine (U.K.)

Textured melodic rock, fizzes with an energy that becomes increasingly difficult not to let yourself wholeheartedly sink into.
-Ian Fildes, Americana U.K.

Pure and powerful rock songs are beautifully interspersed with rootsy rock. American rock and power pop, carefully crafting seamless melodies punctuated by fantastic guitar riffs.
