Biography

With a sound that reminds me of a mix of Kids In Glass Houses and You Me at Six, The Retrospective have certainly started in the right direction, after all bands like this are in high demand at the moment.

The one thing that will stick out when you first listen to this EP is Scott Evanson’s impressive vocal abilities. This is especially prominent in the opening track ‘Starting with Tonight’ where his high vocal range reminds me of The Starting Line and consequently it makes this band stand out from the rest, away from the skinny jean fitted drab we are presented with today. Aptly, this first song is all about being that little bit different from everyone else and I think it shows.

A weak link on the EP is in the form of the track ‘New Year’. With its slow pace and not really going anywhere attitude this song leaves the mind to think it could have only been made better with a hook that makes it stick out. But then what’s a new Pop-punk band without a slow power ballad song, they certainly worked for Bon Jovi.

With a nice selection of songs these guys are certainly on the right track; distinctive vocals, powerful guitars (which would be impressive if they could pull it off with one guitar live) and some catchy tunes just show these guys are keeping the Pop-punk dream alive! Nice try boys!
