The Roots keep it local on “Without a Doubt,” the seventh track off Things Fall Apart, featuring fellow Philadelphian Lady B and a beat sampled from Schoolly D’s “Saturday Night”. Drummer Questlove commented on using the sample in the album’s liner notes:
"Another one of our in house geniuses, Chaos, suggested that if we were going to ‘go there’ (Hip Hop’s ever so effortless task of ‘creating’ the cover tune) we should keep it ‘ill’ (adelph). So it was no question to whom shall we borrow a tune from … 52nd street’s own Schoolly D. By this point the Hip-Hop nation overused his classic “PSK… what does it mean?” … So we wanted to go for second best, his ‘87 classic 'Saturday Night.’ … We hope we did the city proud by this one."
