Biography

The Scorseses originally assembled in 2009, as a group of friends who enjoyed great music and wanted to celebrate the diverse influences that make up the New Orleans music scene. What began as an extracurricular activity, transformed into a serious passion to not only make amazing music but to create a new sound. The Scorseses were recognized for “Best Band Reinventing Their Game” in 2011 by the Best of the Big Easy Awards for Where Y’at Magazine. They have also played many festivals including Gulfport Music Festival, Houston Beer Festival, Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo, Houston Oktoberfest, ArtMelt, Texas RockFest, Red Gorilla Music Festival, and rocking faces everywhere in between. They have had the honor of sharing the stage with many great musicians, including touring with the legendary Fishbone in early 2013, which helped broaden their fan base. They also released their first full length album this year entitled "Magnumopus" on September 28, 2013 and they are honored to be selected to perform at the Voodoo Experience in New Orleans in November 2013. The Scorseses will be touring with H.R. from Bad Brains on the D.I.A. Global Rock Showcase tour in 2014 as well to support their new album.

- 2011 Best of the Big Easy Awards, Where Y'at Magazine

"Ska's the launching pad for The Scorseses, and, like Mutemath, builds something contemporary from refashioned versions of classic parts. Throughout their debut five-song EP, they show similar invention, and it's easy to hear how this could find a big audience."
- Alex Rawls, Offbeat Magazine

"If their debut EP, "Presenting…The Scorseses" is any indication, The Scorseses will certainly soar to greater heights in 2011!"
- Greg Roques, Where Y'at Magazine

"With an eclectic, non-stop live show, The Scorseses are extremely proficient at keeping your attention and body moving."
- Press Play Magazine

"Successfully blending an eclectic group of styles into their sound with focused guitar progressions and virtuoso-style bass lines beefed by their powerful horn section and keyboards, The Scorseses are a polished, powerful group of live performers and are undoubtedly radio friendly."
- Anti-Gravity Magazine
