There are several bands with the name: 'The Setup'
1) The California Vegan Straight Edge Band
2) The belgian hardcore band

1) A Vegan Straight Edge band from Chula Vista, CA, they released the "Screams of Reason" 7" on Words of War Records and the "Straight Outta Chula Vista " demo in 1998 for their tour that same year. They were also set to release a full length CD on Warpath Records but that unfortunately was never released.
2)The Setup has quickly built a name for themselves by ferociously bulldozing every basement and club in Belgium and surrounding areas these last couple of years. Within merely a year after their incarnation they released their first mini. Whilst getting amazing reviews for their first outing “Nine Kinds Of Pain”, the band never felt quite satisfied with it’s outcome. Guitarist Andries Beckers explains: “Putting this record together was a much more thought-out process. The mini-CD was initially only meant to be a demo tape, but how can one refuse an offer to have it released on both CD and 7” format? This new record is much more about us and what we are about now though. There are no drastic changes musically, but everything from the lyrics, to the layout, to the mastering was a more conscious effort this time around.” And it shows. Behold the new, more mature incarnation of The Setup.
This Belgian outfit features members of hardcore stalwarts Circle and Thumbs Down. However, one listen to this record will demonstrate that The Setup is not interested in reliving its past. Musically influences rather range from the renowned mid 90’s newschool band Unbroken on the renowned New Age label, to other legendary bands like Turmoil, Deadguy and Earth Crisis.

3) The UK indie band, The Setup are a four piece band who have made an impact on the scene with their roots in Staffordshire. After various bands came and went THE SETUP was formed just over a year ago being described as: "everything you want to hear on the Radio!" and "music that every festival and crowd would ever need".
They have gone from strength to strength and have already given London a glimpse of what is to come. The Setup draw there inspiration from acts such as Neil Young and Janis Joplin to Erasure & Muse showing a strong depth to the music they write.
The Setup are looking to reach as many people as possible with their music and live shows which is where their real perfomance lies.
They have been described as anthemic, ambient, indie, alternative rock.

4)The Set Up are an Edinburgh based quartet, blending blues, folk and rock with their signature three-part harmonies. Austen George is the singer-songwriter and lead guitarist. Lewis Rosa is on backing vocal and bass. Murray Briggs on drums. The band has recently been augmented by Gus Carruthers on guitar and vocals. With a focus on signature hooks, memorable riffs and powerful three-part harmonies, The Set Up weave electric guitar, acoustic and piano based songs to produce raw, emotive music.
Past credits include radio play on a number of stations including Radio 1 and Radio Scotland amongst others; rave reviews by Vic Galloway on radio and Rick Fulton in the Daily Record; and a live session on BBC Radio Scotland. They were the house band at seminal Edinburgh venue, The Left Bank, were they developed a large following with their flair for clever rock’n’roll and their three-part harmony. They’ve played some of the finest stages in Scotland, including the Classic Grand and the Arches in Glasgow and the Liquid Rooms and Bongo Club in Edinburgh, plus a whole host of others. Austen has scored music for both BBC and Chanel 4 television as well as supported acts like Supergrass. Murray currently plays for Aberfeldy, The Gin Goblins and Chris Bradley.

5.) The Setup is a facultative symbiotic creature that dwells in the North American Great Lakes Region. The Setup is primarily concerned with producing “Music” but is also greatly invested in implement manipulation and extended periods of mental, physical and spiritual idleness. The Setup has a generally amiable disposition although it is known to experience bouts of antisocial behavior and isolationist territorial claims in the presence of large numbers of other creatures. The Setup feeds primarily on its own physiological excrement or on the apparent chemical satisfaction it gains from social observation. The Setup often is preyed upon by more advanced, intricate creatures that are in higher stages of development, but due to its distinctly unsanitary composition, it is rarely given the extended attention of other animals. Under most circumstances one can find The Setup cooing incoherently, percussively striking the various discarded items it salvages from periods of wanderlust, often in enclosed areas and almost certainly alone. Despite the obvious futility of these behaviors, The Setup appears to be most satisfied in these esoteric flights of sounds, sights and sentimentality.
