Biography
The Sextants formed in the late '80's in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They moved to San Francisco in 1987. Along with friends in other SF bands such as Counting Crows and 4 Non Blondes, they helped to cultivate the early-nineties "music boom" in the Bay Area. After being courted by many major labels, and playing countless shows, they signed with Imago in 1992 sharing the label's roster with Henry Rollins and Amy Mann. They recorded a CD called "Lucky You" which was met with rave reviews in major media such as USA Today and Alternative Press. The CD featured guest appearances by David Hidalgo of Los Lobos and Ian McLagen (Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Bob Dylan). Their music was featured in a surprisingly entertaining film called "My Boyfriend's Back" and their videos were played on MTV's 120 Minutes. After several tours of the US and Canada, they called it quits and went their separate ways to pursue other projects.
