Such a magical and (mostly) cozy album! The more you listen to it, the better it gets, but you've really gotta be in the right mood for the whole experience!

listening to the whole album in one sitting is a cinematic experience like no other. it feels like being sung a beautiful lullaby while riding a roller coaster, thrilling yet so peaceful at the same time

continuing my smashing pumpkins journey, this record was a very pleasant listen. i honestly thought i would grow tired of it cuz its a double album, but it had sufficient good material to keep it interesting. i wouldn't put this over siamese dream as their best work so far personally, but this was still a pretty good album.

pretty amazing album. close best friend of mine came over to my house onetime with this album and suggested we listen to it on my cd player. it was probably one of the greatest moments i had with a friend because we sat there talking about a lot of stuff and playing games with this whole album playing in the back. wont forget the moment when thru the eyes of ruby came on.

i used to not like this much (even when i first posted this shout, i was still kinda eh i only liked 4 or 5 songs off of this) but it really grows on you. absolutely agree with mclarge's comment, better every time. never been able to get through the full album, though. first time i actually committed was on a roadtrip and i lost my service right after disc 1 ended, so i didn't get to listen to the rest.

I think this album is good but overrated. I never understood Billy's claim it was "The Wall for Gen X", since The Wall is a distinct concept album with a fairly consistent sound, where as Mellon Collie is on the whole very disparate and has no concept to speak of. Perhaps Billy meant that Gen X was scattered and directionless, which would fit, but that's just me being generous. Anyway.

Happy 25th anniversary to this 3rd album of them ... Yesterday it has been 25 years since it was released, and what a figure they have, over 12 million scrobbles... wow

Easily one of the greatest albums of all time. Certainly the best double LP I've ever heard.
