Biography

The Static Cult is an alternative punk rock band for fans of Rise Against, Billy Talent, Ignite, Alkaline Trio, Thrice, Foo Fighters etc. Formed in November 2009 in Glasgow, Scotland, the band is Jimmy (Guitar and Vocals), Doog (Guitar and Vocals), James (Bass and Vocals) and Barry (Drums).

Scottish high energy punk rock shenanigans akin to some sort of train smash between Foo Fighters and Rise …Against, only the good bits remain intact.
Looking like a mean bunch of muthas this Glasgow crew have an utterly irresistible set of hooks that deserve to be anthems at a bunch of summer festivals.
The set starts well but it is actually half way in where things go a bit stellar with "Birth Of A Nation" and "Salvation" which prove to be the anthems in waiting i mentioned earlier. So, promise, ruthlessly taught execution and gang choruses to die for.
The Static Cult, very mobile and very soon to be much more than a cult.
- 8/10 Simon Grays - More Than Music

“This band needs to come to the USA ASAP! They sound like the next Bad Religion/Rise Against. Bottom line, they rock! Embers and Ashes is one of my favorite songs, also check out Hold Tight Hope”
– Nevermind The Posers

Do you love the Foo Fighters? Check out this Glasgow-based four piece who have the same canny ear for a huge melodic chorus, epic riffs and pounding drums.Their self titled debut is a huge turbo-charged joy. As big tattooed rock gods you can guess the lyrics as the band state their case on opening track Embers and Ashes: "Until our dying days we'll burn the heavens before we expire". Lyrics are peppered with destruction, fire, churning stomachs, wolves, hungry jackals and dreams of death. Some of the lyrics are beautiful and helpfully for a rock band you can hear each word. And no wonder the music is uplifting and tunes like Hold Tight Hope marry the new alternative rock of the Foos with blistering, ball-bashing punk rock. The self-titled album is released on Monday Sept 5th.
-Rick Fulton - Daily Record

For a band just releasing their debut album, The Static Cult sound very assured. And rightly so, their solid melodic punk anthems sound polished without sacrificing any of the bands integrity. Think Against Me! and early Alkaline Trio…the gang vocals on tracks such as "Hold Tight Hope" are intense.
But it's not just rocking they specialize in, this album ends on a lovely acoustic number, "Dancing On A Burning Ship"…Any band who can convey the level of energy The Static Cult achieve on an album are definitely special. - Tracey Lowe - Big Cheese

The Static Cult have played summer dates with Bad Religion and The Black Pacific (ex- Pennywise) and are touring summer 2012!
