Was watching a live clip of them playing this on the 1995 tour last night, and what really stuck out to me was how well John Squire was able to recreate the surreal jamming at the start of the track live.

I always loved how romantically un-romantic the chorus is on such a beautiful track. Calling the structure which is a token of his infatuation "this thing" is slyly brilliant in a way only northern brits can pull off.

NOT the Roses at their best, NOT even their best on this disc. Still, pretty fine.

Best moment of today: Decided to re-listen to The Stone Roses during a gloomy overcast sorta day with grey clouds all over. And *right* when I got to TSLS, the sun came out all shiny, only to recede back when I got to Daybreak. Holy crap, what a great coincidence. :D

This was one of the first songs I called a favourite, and a part of the soundtrack to my childhood. Haven't heard it for years, loving it!
