The song "I’ll Try Anything Once (You Only Live Once demo)" by The Strokes is about embracing the notion that life is short, so we should make the most of it and go for the things that make us happy.
Julian expresses how he sees the potential for romance between he and the woman he loves and that it is time to take a risk. He then expresses that even if things don't turn out perfectly - as they often don't in life - we should still be brave and try something new. He urges people to not be scared of failure and that breaking out of a routine or trying something different is an important life lesson. He also expresses that everyone has strengths and weaknesses, but if we don't try something at least once, we will never know how it could turn out. In the end, the song is essentially about taking risks, making memories and living life to its full potential.
