The Strookas are a 3-piece rock band from Kent, England. The bands original line up between 1986-1990 was Cliff Bailey on bass, David Bloomfield on guitar and John Edwards on drums and lead vocals. Influenced by Husker Du, Radio Birdman and The Ramones, The Strookas released a couple of early EP singles including "Summer to Fall" in 1990. The band line up changed in 1991 when Cliff left the band and Tony O'Rourke joined. In 1992 the band's sound became harder and louder and the lyrics more serious. Dinosaur Jr and Swervedriver influences kicked in. Their first LP "Deaf by Dawn" was released in 1992 and the band toured France. The band's last recordings were in the late 1990s. In 2000, a compilation CD called "What you want to Hear" was released on Engineer Records and interest in Japan has led to remastered recordings being released on Fixing a Hole Records. "Cumagutza", "Deaf by Dawn" and "Summer to Fall" were released in the first 3 months of 2009. www.strookas.com
