Fantastic debut album. Lines And Shadows, Voices Carry Through The Mist, New Day, Sawdust In My Eyes, and Orange And Blue were all immediate highlights, in particular. The whole album ping-pongs between various genres and influences without leaning too heavily on them -- and choosing instead to mutate and warp them into something more novel. The saxophone freakout at the end of Lines And Shadows is a perfect example of this. Hope to hear more from them soon -- followed by a North American tour, possibly...?

Featuring two thirds of The Wave Pictures and one half of Slow Club, The Surfing Magazines' garage rock crunch matches the menace of Link Wray to some poignantly British songwriting. The Surfing Magazines have just released their debut album via the fine folks at Moshi Moshi. Buy it now.
