The Sweet Scenario have parted ways, with Ben Speirs and Daniel Margetson joining the band Bob: Killed A Dinosaur to form Dirty Boots.
The Sweet Scenario were a three-piece band from Letchworth Garden City, Hetfordshire. The current members were united musically summer 2009, although were friends beforehand. All members are in the same year, at the same school, but each study different subjects. It took a long time, but in late July the name was decided upon; The Sweet Scenario. We feel this name captures who we are as a band - generally very happy people who enjoy what we do and hope others enjoy listening too!
Alice, Daniel and Ben have played together at school concerts for the past year, covering rock/pop songs in a unique way - by not including basses or guitars, instead relying on the piano/keyboard, played by fantastic pianist Daniel Margetson, who plays at a grade 6-7 level. He can take any song and convert it to work on piano, changing the original style of the song tremendously. We have the freedom to make upbeat songs the exact opposite, and make slow, emotional songs upbeat, but whatever we decide to do, our singer is the main focus.
Alice Dixon, unlike the other members, has not taken any musical subjects to study and has not taken any grades either, yet her vocals are stunning. She is very diverse, and can cover songs regardless of genre, and puts her own unique spin on every performance. She is often linked to sounding like female artists Lily Allen and Kate Nash, as well as the vocalists for The Kooks and The Rumble Strips. Alice is a naturally gifted and talented musician, and is also currently learning to play acoustic guitar.
The final member of the band is Ben Speirs, the drummer. Ben has played drums for almost 2 years now, and has picked the instrument up incredibly quickly, and is currently playing at a grade 6/7 level. Ben can fit a suitable pattern to any song whatsoever, meaning that covers are, yet again, even more unique. He can play drums and really focus on the dynamics of the performance, ensuring focus is kept on the other musicians when necessary. He is also quite skilled at music studio software found on computers.
And that is us! We really enjoy what we do and have such a great time practising, arranging and composing songs. We hope to be playing in various venues soon and hope that you enjoy our music as much as we enjoy playing it!
