Wow, they're good! But hearing "mein fürer" and comparisons to people or events they don't like with hitler and nazis is a bit too teeny for me.

You probably have to be British to understand the satire in the lyrics. The point here is not Nazi Germany but the fact that anyone who followed the Brexit campaign up to the day of the vote will recognise the parallels and believe that the song is about Britain and its EU politics - the surprise comes at the end when you realise that it is not but Andy Tillison always wanted us to believe that it was. The fact that we were misled is quite telling.

Maybe I do have to be british to understand. But since I'm not, and having family members who flew Germany so they'd not be killed because they were jews, I found pretty offensive to to hear that, I find these "banalizations" of terrible events and concepts too disturbing. The lyrics and music on The Slow Rust of Forgotten Machinery (Slow Burn 10/10) are really good, until they decided to drop that mein fürer right in the end of the album.

I understand now why you posted and I share your concern but the point that is being made concerns parallels and the risk of history repeating itself. That is a terrifying thought. I support the band in its attempts to promote continuing British collaboration and inclusion in Europe rather than the splendid isolation that we appear to be heading for.

any big surprises in those demos? Not that I'm bored by Andy's compositions but I am very excited about "The Slow Rust of Forgotten Machinery"...

I've crowd-funded The Tangent before so I am not expecting these demos to change much when they are released. I guess I was a little surprised by the lack of vocal - Andy gets a lot of flack over the quality of his singing but for me this is all part of the character of The Tangent and, as he uses his voice sparingly, I would't have any issues if a vocal is added. As the most controversial track, I had already heard A Few Steps Down The Wrong Road when released via the FB site and I empathise with and share Andy's concerns. The other four demo tracks are wonderful - Porcine Developments In Indochina is surprisingly funky for The Tangent and demonstrates Andy's compositional versatility.

thanks for the info! And I completely agree with you when it comes to Andy's singing / voice. It makes for a big part of the character of his music and I enjoy it very much.

Haha - if you were referring to 'primordial goo' - it really IS pretty gruesome, except maybe 'my dependency', which at least is kind of ... music. And I do love prog! 'Comm' is a great album, though...

Had the pleasure of chatting with Andy Tilllson before and after his gig at Summer's End. He is revitalised. This gig was the best I have seen him play in years. His enthusiasm is back and is reflected in his latest album COMM which is very very good. Look out for Luke Machin his guitarist. This young man is only 21 yet his understanding of The Tangent and its music was extremely impressive. His knowledge of the guitar and playing was and is remarkable. He was a great influence to Andy on this album and is in some part responsible for the renewed energy. He also co-produced the album. Watch out for him Luke Machin! He can write, play and produce some stunning music.

Oh, sorry. It's something like "nevertheless" or "anyways." Maybe "moving on." A local dialect thing. My apologies.
